Let's Go Hokies!

We had our annual "First game of the season" party this last weekend! (Pictures here) Unfortunately the hokies lost in the last 3 minutes but we had a great time kicking off the season! The kids had a great time too and get totally decked out. I made a football cake for the first time too! I used a mold that it two halves of the cake and then you put it together and decorate. Turned out pretty cute!

Happy 4th Birthday my sweet girl!

Hannah turned 4 today! I can hardly believe it! We went to Panera (her choice) for breakfast, then Hannah and I went to build a bear. She got a Koala named Gabriella. For dinner we are going to Ynot Pizza (Hannah's favorite spot).

Rockstar Birthday Party

Hannah and my niece Haley are 1 year and 3 days apart. Since their birthdays are so close we have done a combined birthday party the last few years. This year the girls are really into Hannah Montana although they rarely watch the show. They just like the singing so we had a Rockstar/Hannah Montana inspired birthday party! We set up a stage with 2 real microphones and then played music for them and the girls got up and sang their hearts out! We also had a dressing room/red carpet/fashion show set up with lots of stuff to dress up! The girls had a great time!

Happy 4th Birthday Noah

My nephew, Noah had his 4th Birthday party today. My sister-in-Law had planned a fun swimming party. Unfortunately about 30 minutes into the swimming fun, a thunderstorm started. Everyone was out of the pool and in the house in a matter of minutes before torrential downpour occurred. Once inside the house, the electricity went out, the house burglar alarm went off - twice but all the kids had a great time! Even the most thought out plans can go terribly wrong! We ended up all laughing at how hysterical it all was. It didn't matter though, the kids had a blast and Noah loved his party!

Happy 5th Birthday Haley

My beautiful niece Haley turned 5 on August 8th! Happy Birthday Bug!

A New Twist on Green Eggs & Ham

On my way home in the car today Hannah was in the back reading as she often does. She can’t read most of the words but usually makes up words and tells a similar story to a book we have read her before. Today, it was Green Eggs and Ham. I was cracking up listening to her version and luckily was close to home. I sat in the driveway and pulled out my computer and told her to keep “reading”. I wrote down her version. It was so cute I had to share (a helpful note: in Sunday School today she learned about Jesus walking on water and then as a fun treat - they read Green Eggs and Ham which I’m guessing is what portions of her story are inspired by)

A New Twist on Green Eggs & Ham
By Hannah Roberts

I do not like Green Eggs and Ham

I do not like them in a house or with a mouse

Not on a horse or on a horsey ride or in their stable

I will not eat them in a tree or with a mouse

I don’t like mouses

I won’t eat them in the car

I will not eat them with a fox

I will not eat them with a mox

I will not eat them when I have a sleepover

I will not eat them when I put on eye shadow

Not even in New York on a plane or when I’m at the table for breakfast

I will not eat them for a snack or when I’m on a trip

I will not eat them on a train or at night when there are stars outside

I taste it! I like it! I will eat them anywhere with a mouse

I will eat them with a bear or a snake

With a mouse, in a house on a house

When I have dinner or sit down

I will eat them with Jesus – when he walks on the water with his disciples

I will eat them with a mermaid

I will eat them with a knife

I will eat them under the sea with all my friends

I will eat them in a tree or even with a mouse

I will eat them with Mommy & Daddy

I will eat them at Grandma and Grandpa and Nan-Nan’s house

I love green eggs and Ham

I love you mermaid
